Bird Dog Training Seminar
February 6, 2013
Our seminars are held at either our dog training facility in Cornell, Illinois, hunting preserves, or actual wild bird hunting environments. The utilization of dog training facilities and natural habitats allow participants to observe, first hand, the manner in which to configure fields and yard set-ups, while highlighting the importance of things like good cover, quartering strips, and agility equipment for flushing dog training.
This seminar is for you if you want to consistently have your dog hunt within range of the guns, learn to obey even with distractions, or get your dog to a level to pass hunt tests. If you want to stop yelling and correcting your dog, you need to take this seminar! Class size is limited so plan accordingly.
Next Seminar - April 20-21, 2013 - Cornell, IL

Skeeter Moves to the Deep South
January 24, 2013
Skeeter our English Cocker Spaniel has moved to a ranch in the south where he has already retrieved in one day 30 ducks & 20 quail. I would say that Skeeter is having a lot of fun with his new owner. We look forward to more stories and photos about Skeeter and his new owner.

Mason Dixon English Cocker Field Trial
May 24, 2012
In April, Todd and I stopped out in Spring Grove, PA for a day to watch one of the cocker field trials. It took place at Hill Country Lodge, which had a beautiful setting up on the hill. The cockers ran the first two series in fields and food plots that had tree/hedge rows on each side and made for some interesting retrieves. The third series took place in the woods, which is a favorite of mine to watch.

The weather was hot, as usual, and the dogs worked hard for their birds. It is always interesting to watch the dogs run in the east because the requirements differ greatly from where we live. Closer working dogs are the norm due to the cover and terrain. A typical field size might be 20 to 40 acres in the east, yet 100 or more in the [more...]

English Cocker Spaniel Gun Dog Training
March 7, 2012
The past couple of weeks have had an increase in training of field-bred English Cocker Spaniels. We have our four that get quite a bit of work and Christina is having great fun with them. She continues to run Dewey to add more polish and she has just decided to make Splash available as a started dog. This will cut her down to five dogs that include three English Cocker Spaniels (Dewey, Skeeter and Millie) and two English Springer Spaniels (Annie and Lil).
In addition to our own cockers, Jason has been down a bunch with his older English Cocker Spaniel Lucy. She is a nice little gun dog and Jason continues to work on ground coverage and subtle direction, which is contrary to the retriever background he and Lucy have. Christina can help him quite a bit, as she has had to make the same adjustments. Jason [more...]

New English Cocker Spaniel Puppy and Dog Training
February 20, 2012
.jpg)
It was a busy week here at the kennel. Christina got a new English cocker spaniel from Massachusetts. She has named it Craney Hill Millie MacDuff and it seems to be a very well-socialized puppy. Millie is liver with a small white patch on her chest and her life has already been significantly altered. Since we got her, she has discovered fields, bird scent, feathers, the kennel and of course Lil! Lil is less than excited, as her idea of retirement is not babysitting a young puppy!
Frank was down for Train With The Trainer with his field spaniels. We are trying to get them running in the field on birds. We have previously shot birds for them, but they [more...]

Seminar Schedule
February 13, 2012
We have set our seminar schedule for the 2012 year, which includes the wild pheasant gun dog training in January 2013. We are targeting a narrow group of people for these seminars and wild bird gun dog training sessions. If you are looking for a hunting school for your dog, these seminars and wild bird training sessions are what you need. We play some games in the form of spaniel field trials and hunt tests and although we are glad to help in those areas, our passion is creating bird dogs. Our hunting schools for your dog focus on producing birds in control. Afterall, if you just wanted to go for a walk, you could play golf!
Look at the different options and we are sure you will find that they are structured specifically to those looking to get more enjoyment with their dog in the field. [more...]
